The 140-bed State Rehabilitation Service provides State wide tertiary or specialist level inpatient and outpatient clinical rehabilitation services to people suffering from complex or catastrophic injuries or illnesses such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and other neurological conditions, orthopaedic conditions and amputations.
The inclusion of the State rehabilitation service at our hospital means that rehabilitation patients have immediate access to other key services, including operating theatres, medical imaging, pathology and pharmacy.
Specialist areas include:
- Acquired Brain Injury
- Trauma and Multidiagnostic
- Rehabilitation Technology (for example orthotic and prosthetics)
- School Services (provided by Department of Education).
The tertiary rehabilitation services provided at Royal Perth Hospital's Shenton Park campus transferred to the State Rehabilitation Service at Fiona Stanley Hospital on 4 October 2014. The Shenton Park campus is now closed.
Our State Rehabilitation Service patient information booklet contains information available on the Your hospital stay and Rehabilitation patients pages on our website. It is also available in each patient room.
